A Brackish Arrangement considers the private architectures queer lives have long required. One figure stands—composed, tailored, measured—while the other reclines in studied ease, youth and languor offset by watchful intelligence. Between them hangs something more intricate than simple romance: mentorship, patronage, companionship, desire, protection, negotiation.

The title gestures toward a mixture. “Brackish” suggests the meeting of currents—sweet and saline, devotion and compromise, tenderness and strategy. For generations, such pairings have existed both within and outside accepted social frameworks, shaped as much by necessity as inclination. This composition does not judge or sentimentalize. It observes. In its quiet tension and mutual regard, it acknowledges arrangements that were often less conventional than enduring—and sometimes more honest than polite society allowed.
